Something I Love Sunday

This is really more of a "SomeONE I Love Sunday" post, but whatevs. This girl makes me so happy. Her name is Hannah. She now lives 4 hours away from me to go to college, but she is still my touchstone. Don't get me wrong, I have many close friends in Huntsville that I love and cherish deeply. But because Hannah is no longer involved in the everyday innerworkings of my life, talking to her gives me a fresh perspective on any situation that I come across. I went to visit her this weekend to clear my mind a bit and reset. Sometimes, if you stay in the same place long enough, you can't take a step back from your life and appreciate it - your mind becomes too involved with typical life issues and you can't enjoy what you have.

So this weekend, I am thankful for:
- a great friend willing to put up with me all weekend
- BEAUTIFUL weather that happens very rarely in the South (about 70 degrees, sunny, slight breeze... perfection)
- coffee.
- sun rooms to enjoy said coffee and weather.
- deep conversations punctuated by cute cat antics and jazz music playing in a neighbor's yard.

Feel free to shout out something that you are currently loving!

Settle down with me by the fire of my yearning.

As you may have noticed, this blog has become pretty dead lately. This reason is two-fold. Life getting in the way is the main reason. During the month of November, I moved into my own apartment and was consumed by finals and personal ups and downs and real life in general, all while trying to hold down a 40-hour a week job and keep my G.P.A. up (which went swimmingly - I graduated magna cum laude!). December started off with graduation and was a fast-paced month filled with family, friends, and food. January... well, let's not talk about January. Let's just leave it at being a very bittersweet month. Now, February is upon us and it's time to get in the swing of things again. The second reason is that Heather has decided to become a guest on the blog, because keeping up with two blogs and a business is a large undertaking. Therefore, she will become a super awesome rad guest, and the blog has shifted over to me, Becky. Since she was always the more dedicated updater between the two of us, this is also a reason for a profound lack of updates.

HOWEVER. It is time for all of that to change. I am going to promise to be a better updater - just don't flog me if I am not perfect.

That being said, here are a few of the things I have done since the last update:

I tried the whole shorts/tights thing, at the insistence of several parties. It worked out better than I thought it would, and kept me pretty warm considering the temperature decided to hover at 32 degrees that night.

Here is a lovely shot of Heather's outfit on that wonderful girls' night (please ignore the bottle of rum on the coffee table).

Three of my favorite ladies getting ready for a little girls' night rambunctiousness.

Two friends playing at open mic night at my favorite bar in the world, the Voodoo Lounge.

Boys enjoying Mario Kart before a going away party of epic proportions.

This is just a random picture from a party, but I really like the way that I look in this picture so I vainly posted it.
Heather and I decided to visit the Nook with Dave and Tyler, and we got fancy.

Our beers, in order of light to dark. Mine is on the far right :-)

I love this random beer picture of Jill and I.

I also like this beer picture of myself. Don't be fooled; I do engage in other activities that do not involve beer. However, when beer is present the pictures flow easier.

A brightly lit Voodoo Lounge.

A Birmingham adventure. We were excited, because we were the only ones who got wristbands.

Hair mustache. "When in doubt, pinky out" is my 2011 motto.

A single girls' fridge: sour cream, cheese, jelly, pasta sauce, a lime, an onion, water, coffee creamer, 2 bottles of wine, hamburger meat, chicken breasts and 3 6-packs of beer.

Stay classy, guys.

Goodbye,old friend

This is the last post that will have such craptastic photos! I ordered a nice new camera, yay!I wrote a whole post about that here.

So anyways, to be honest...this has been my style as of late:

I've been SUPER.DOOPER.Busy.It's ridonkulous, but in a good way. So I don't leave the house much...and I pretty much kick it in shorts and a tee, with uggs or slippers, most of the time.

Then If I have to make a post office or bank run I switch out the shorts for jeans and the uggs for heels, add a jacket and my Louis...and BAM. Somehow my ratty bun no longer says "I haven't had time to brush my hair today"...but starts saying " Yes,I AM too cool to brush my hair.Messy is chic." And somehow my crappy old tshirt of the day becomes 'distressed" and "vintage".

These were the heels I went with today. They are Express ( I think...)and in case you can't tell what that lil brass doodad on the side is...It's A Bee! Maybe I'm weird, but it thrills me that the buckle is not a boring typical buckle..but a buckle BEE:)

Yeah.Random self-portrait in the car window.

I made this ring out of a brooch I found at a thrift store.Cute,no?

And I made this necklace...more like it will be in my etsy shop soon!

Stayed tuned for actually GOOD outfit posts starting sometime next week!

lust for plush...

You may ignore this post if you like...but it is a style blog...and I need the visual aid to figure out the final touches to style my living room! If you have any thoughts please pipe in!

So here is the room. The color of the couch is actually a pale minty/seafoam green...the picture kind of lies...and the pillows are white with black floral. The whole room is basically chill and neutral..with little pops of black and red. So,which rug shall go under that coffee table?

and here are the rug choices. Now that we have a nice new couch I can finally pick one for sure!

$129.99
Keeps the chill vibe..and is stain resistant. But I can't decide if the gray would seem dingy next to all the white...
____________________________________________________________________________________________

$299
matches the curtains..still pretty chill...but will the beige clash with the white?
_____________________________________________________________________________________________

$99.95
Seems like the easiest, most obvious choice...I do love minimal. But...we have a new puppy and a big chocolate lab...am I silly for wanting white carpet?
______________________________________________________________________________________________

149.00
And this pushes all the right buttons..mostly black and white...only a little grey...but if I'm gonna do this much white should I just go for it with the shag?

Ohhhhh decisions,decisions.

hey btw..if you read this far..feel free to go enter my giveaway!Over $100 worth of stuff to be won!

How Wonderful Life Is Now That You're In The World

This is my style as of late - laid back and don't really bother with what others think!

SNAPSHOT:

Listening: "Chicago" the musical, Neil Young, Tears for Fears, David Bowie

Reading: "Valley of the Dolls", my Employment Law textbook.

watching: a lot of "That 70's Show" re-runs, because I am not home enough to watch other things.

wearing: a pair of tan & yellow Sperry boat shoes, skinny jeans, lace embroidered tshirt, flannel shirt -very 1994 meets 2012.

Wanting: money to decorate my new apartment! More on that later.

Plans of the day: I'm currently in class (I know, I know, slap my wrists), but I'm going to go study, meet with a study group, go to work and then - drinks? Dancing? Dinner? who knows?!
